We would like to introduce you to Stanley, the library tortoise- our new pet! He lives in the children’s area, and is a bit shy. If you stop by, he might just poke his head out of his shell to say hello!
Stanley loves to eat veggies, and doesn’t like being cold. When it gets a bit chilly he hides in his log. On nice sunny days, you can see him sitting in the corner of his home in the sunshine. Stanley doesn’t really like being picked up, he often hisses at us when we try. We don’t let anyone else pick him up because his shell is actually very fragile- if he were to be dropped, he could be seriously injured. Sometimes we let him out of his house so he can get some exercise- and boy is he quick! He’ll race around the bookshelves, and if we’re not watching he’ll be gone in a flash! So if Stanley is out for a little stroll, watch where you step.
So don’t forget- stop by and say a hi to Stanley!
