Kids’ Concert by Brad and Wina!

On Saturday, April 13th at 2:00, Brad Kampf (Minneapolis) and Wina Mortenson (our own Youth Services librarian) put on a concert!  Brad and Wina performed a mixture of folk, rock, and world music—with lots of instruments, singing, and fun!  This concert was a fundraiser for the Friends of the Galesville Public Library.  What a great way to kick off National Library Week!  If you didn’t make it to the show, we missed you!  A DVD will be available to check out from the library very soon.

Culver’s Coloring for a Custard, for the month of April

To celebrate National Library Week, Culver’s is giving away prizes!  Come to the library and get a coloring sheet.  Celebrate your favorite book by drawing a picture about it.  Return the completed picture to the library staff and receive a coupon for a free Culver’s custard!  All the pictures will be hung up in the library for patrons and staff to admire.  At the end of the month, we will do a random “drawing” of two pictures.  The children who made those two pictures will receive a coupon for a free Scoopie Kids’ Meal!  Coloring sheets will be available April 1st through 30th, with the drawing taking place on May 1.  The two meal winners will be called on the phone.  Good luck!

Chinese New Year Storytime 10:15, February 15 2013

On Friday, February 15, we had a special Chinese New Year Storytime.  This program was for the younger kids, and we read books, made a dragon mask, and had a parade followed by cupcakes.dragon mask

Chinese New Year Library Time 1:30, February 15 2013

On Friday, February 15, our Library Time was also a Chinese New Year party!  This program was intended for ages 3rd to 5th grade.  We learned about how the Lunar New Year is celebrated and made a beautiful sponge painting of plum blossoms.  We followed the Chinese tradition of cleaning for the new year by giving the Community Room a good dusting, and used bubble wrap for pretend firecrackers during our parade!  Of course we had cupcakes, too.
