  1. My great grandfather, George M. Dusenbery, graduated from the Independence Graded School in 1899 and I have a copy of the program for that event as well as an article entitled “Independence – school days” which has a photo of the first school building, with people in front of it. Would the Independence Historical Society be interested in having a copy of either of these items. Clarice Hebinck 165 Shoreline Drive Mary Esther, Florida 32569 phone 850-581-4591. Thank you.

We would welcome both items into our collection. They can be sent to the Historical Society by either the street address or e-mail address of the Independence Public Library.

As I was replying to this, a patron came into the library and commented, “Oh, yes. The Dusenbery’s lived on Adams St.”
