AUDIO/VISUAL items in the following categories are available: DVDs, Books on CD, downloadable audio & e-books. Some materials are available immediately at the library, and others may be checked out through other libraries.
Check out for books and audio/visual materials from the Mondovi Public Library and from the Winding Rivers System is available to residents with a valid library card and lasts for a three week period. DVDs may be checked out for one week. Reference materials may be checked out at the discretion of the librarian.
Holds may be placed on books and audio/visual materials at the circulation desk at the library or online. The patron will be notified when materials on hold arrive for the patron’ use.
Renewal of books and audio/visual materials which are not on hold may be made at the library circulation desk or online. (Note: if the material you wish to renew is on hold for another patron, you will not be able to renew the item.)
Fines are assessed for materials kept passed the due date and for damages beyond normal use. Fines vary according to the library loaning the material to the patron. Mondovi Library’s late fine is $.05 per day.
Computers, software, and internet access are available to patrons. A full venue of Microsoft products is available for patron use. Wireless internet access is available through the library.
A laptop comuputer is available for a two hour checkout time. The laptop is for students and job seekers, as well as other legitimate work. The laptops are not for “fun” things. The laptop must be used in the library; no games, chat, or messaging is allowed on the laptop. The library does have wireless access and a full venue of Microsoft products. Checkout the laptops through the circulation desk.
Computer time is scheduled during library hours. Before using the computers, all patrons must read and sign an internet “acceptable use” form. Patrons must check with the circulation desk each time they want to use a computer, even if they are not currently in use. Use of computers is restricted to one-half hour time slots, but additional time may be made available if the computer is not scheduled for use. You may call the library several hours or days in advance to reserve computer time.
Children under the age of 18 must have written permission from a parent/guardian to use the internet. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult to use the internet.
NO use of internet chat rooms is allowed. Computers are not to be used for any illegal activities including illegal downloads.
NEWSPAPERS available at the library include The Mondovi Herald, The Durand Courier-Wedge, The Buffalo County Journal, The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, and the USA Today Newspapers are not available for checkout and are located in the southwest corner of the library.
Archived copies of the Mondovi Herald News are available on microfilm. A reader and a printer for copies are available.
MAGAZINES available at the Mondovi Public Library cover topics such as news, health, consumer, modern living, teen, entertainment, technology, and specific interests. About 50 magazines titles are available; call or ask at the desk about specific magazine information. Current issues of magazines are not available for checkout. Non-current magazines may be checked out at the desk.
A photocopier, printers (color & b/w), scanner, and fax are available for patron use. Suggested donations for services are as follows:
Copies & printing – laser b/w – $0.15 per page
Copies & printing– color laser – $0.25 per page
Copies – inkjet b/w – $0.25 per page
Copies – inkjet color – $0.50 per page
Fax – $1.00 for first page, $0.25 for each additional page
Scan & e-mail – no charge
Programs Story Time, 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, Book Bingo, Summer Reading Program, book discussion groups, and special activities throughout the year.
Online Catalog: Use the search engine to find materials by title, author, subject, or a number of other options.
INTER-LIBRARY LOAN: Materials not available through the Winding Rivers Library System can be requested first from all libraries state-wide, then nation-wide if not found in Wisconsin.
TAX FORMS: Most common Federal and State tax forms are available during tax time. We can print forms that we do not have from the IRS website.
