INDIAN ARTIFACTS - ARROWHEADS

The New Lisbon Memorial Library has an extensive collection of Native American Artifacts generously donated to us from Harry A. Mortensen.  Harry Mortensen was the youngest of five children born to Peter and Mary Mortensen of New Lisbon. He spent much of his free time exploring and searching for new pieces to add to his collection.

The collection consists of over 4,000 artifacts, one of the largest personal collections in the state of Wisconsin, all of which were found in Juneau County. Some of the pieces date back to 10,000 years before the birth of Christ.

The collection was given to the care of the New Lisbon Memorial Library, carrying out Harry’s wish that it never be taken out of Juneau County.

This wonderful collection can be seen throughout the Library.  Stop in and enjoy the history of Juneau County!
