Norwalk Public Library is closed Monday, May 28th for Memorial Day.

The Mystery Book Group’s next meeting is Friday, June 1st, from 10:30 to 11:30 am we’ll discuss Dead Tease, by Victoria Houston, the 12th Loon Lake Fishing Mystery.  From NoveList, provided by BadgerLink: “Loon Lake Police Chief Lewellyn “Lew” Ferris and recently deputized dentist Dr. Paul “Doc” Osborne investigate the murder of a twenty-six-year-old woman who was having an affair with Midwest Clinic CEO John McNeil.”

The Summer Reading Program, Dream Big, Read! starts Tuesday, June 5th, at 5 pm, to view the Transit of Venus across the sun with special goggles purchased by the Friends of the Library.  Wednesday, June 6th, the DVD Hugo will be shown starting at 12 pm.  Sandwiches, cookies, and milk will be served.

N-O-W’s Traveling Preschool Playgroup will visit Norwalk Public Library on Friday, May 4th  from 10 to 11:30 am.  Bring your 3 or 4 year old for a chance to play, hear stories, and have a snack while parents and caregivers will have a chance to talk to the Playgroup presenters.  Please feel free to bring younger or older children.

  • I can see clearly now: Ryne Duren talks from the heart about life, baseball and alcohol, by Ryne Duren with Tom Sabellico; foreword by Jim “Mudcat” Grant. From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryne_Duren: Rinold George “Ryne” Duren, born February 22, 1929, in Cazenovia, Wisconsin and died January 6, 2011, age 81, in Lake Wales, Florida, was an American relief pitcher in Major League Baseball. He was known for the combination of his blazing fastball and his very poor vision. With his thick coke bottle glasses, few batters dared to dig in against Duren. Casey Stengel said, “I would not admire hitting against Ryne Duren, because if he ever hit you in the head you might be in the past tense.” Duren’s nephew is singer Blackie Lawless of the heavy metal band W.A.S.P..
