The Village of Taylor
Taylor, Wisconsin was founded in 1873 to provide a depot for the Green Bay and Western Railroad between Blair and Hixton. Though the depots had a tendency to burn down, the village survives. The railroad is still lively, though it now carries sand from the mine rather than tourists for the Van Gordon Hotel. You can't mistake it in this view of the town.
The first thing you need to know is, "How's the weather?" That should get you going in a conversation. Then you can learn more about Taylor as you chat. Wikipedia might have even more facts -- perfect for conversation at the P-nut.
If you're a history buff, you may want to visit Taylor's History Room, in a classroom of the 1909 school building. It is occasionally open on Friday afternoons, staffed by volunteers. Taylor's newspaper, the Taylor Weekly Herald was published between 1921 and 1931. It's available on microfilm in the library.
