    Searching
Encore is an open keyword search.  Type what you’d like to find (title, author, ISBN, series) in the search box, then select “Search”

    Keep in mind,

      • You will have an opportunity to narrow your results after you see the initial search results.
      • Author names can be entered starting with either the first name or last name.

You can also use Advanced Search to enter several search criteria at once.

    • Limiting Your Search

If you receive too many results, you can use the left-side facet options to refine the search.

    • Add to Cart

You can browse the catalog and temporarily place items in a cart.  This is the icon of your cart:

Select the shopping cart icon next to the items you want to add to a cart. Use the “My Cart” option (when you are logged into your account) in the upper right to view and request items in your cart. If you’re using a public computer, if is recommended that you select the “Empty Cart” button after requesting or saving your materials.

    • Save to List

After you’ve placed items in a cart, you can select “Save to list” to keep them in a list associated with your account. You can have multiple lists and request items individually from your lists using the “My Lists” option in your account.

    • Quick Lists

Use Quick Lists to view new, popular, or special interest items. Select the category heading to see more information about the lists.

    Requesting

The catalog displays items from 28 libraries in the Winding Rivers Library System that are part of a shared library catalog called WRLSWEB.  Using your WRLSWeb library card, you can also request most items and have them sent to the most convenient location for pick up. Select the “Request it” option, then enter your name (first or last), library card number, and your preferred pick-up location. Optionally, set a deadline for receiving the material so that the hold is cancelled if it’s not filled before the date you specify. Particularly on public computers, be sure to log out after requesting.

    • Request Processing

Your request (also called a “hold”) will be processed in the order it is received. If the item you request is not currently available, log in to check your place in line. You will receive a telephone, email, or text notice (depending on your individual preferences) when the item is available for you to pick up.

    • Request Limits

The agreed hold limit is 20. Note that a hold that is “ready for pickup” counts as part of that 20 hold limit. If you attempt to place a hold but have reached your limit, you will see the message “There is a problem with your library record. Please see a librarian.”

    My Account

Log in to view your library account using your name (first or last) and library card number. You can access your account information by selecting your name in the upper right. You will be able to modify some of your personal information, view and renew your checked-out items, view the items you’ve requested (holds), view and pay fines online, view your reading history, preferred searches, lists, and e-book checkouts and holds from Wisconsin’s Digital Library. Particularly on public computers, be sure to log out after viewing your account.

    • Renew Checked-out Items

You can renew items (extend the items’ due date) from your list of items currently checked out up to two times if no one else is waiting for the items. If you would like to renew all items that you have checked out, select “Renew All.” To renew selected items, check the box in the “Renew” column next to the items you’d like to renew, then select “Renew Marked.”

If an item can’t be renewed, you will see one of the following messages:

        • RENEW NOT ALLOWED – Renewals are not allowed on this item
        • TOO SOON TO RENEW – Generally, for items checked out for 3 weeks, renewals are allowed 10 days after the original check-out date. For 1 week items, renewals are allowed after 3 days, and for 2 week items, after 7 days.
        • TOO MANY RENEWALS – The item is not eligible for any more renewals. Typically, two renewals are allowed.
        • ON HOLD – Another patron has a hold on the item, so it is not eligible for renewal

You may also renew items over the telephone by calling 1-608-789-7162.  Have your library card number handy.

    • Freeze Holds

For items you have requested, you can wait to receive the item while keeping your place in line by “freezing” the hold. Check the box in the “Freeze” column next to the item and select “Update List.” When you are ready to receive the item, remove the check mark and select “Update List.”

Note that you may only freeze holds on items that are not yet available. Consider using “My Lists” to save titles that you may wish to check out later.

    • Modify Personal Information

Select this option to update your email address and indicate how you would like to receive notices when items you request are ready, or when items you have checked out are overdue.

    • Reading History

You must “Opt In” to activate this feature. Once you have done so, all items you check out from any WRLSWeb library are saved to this list. You can remove items from the list and sort by Title, Author and date Checked Out by selecting the column heading.

Note, should a WRLSWeb item be removed from the catalog, you will lose this title/author from your reading history.

    • My Lists

View and modify lists you’ve saved, and request items from your lists.

    • Pay Fines Online

From your list of unpaid fines and bills, select “Pay Online” and choose the fines you’d like to pay. Complete the billing information and click “Submit.” You will have an option to print a receipt. Visa and MasterCard are accepted. This option is not available for fines less than $5.
