Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
Reading proficiently by third grade is an important milestone in a child’s education. To help children in the seven-county Winding Rivers Library System (WRLS) area start kindergarten ready to learn, the Friends of WRLS has partnered with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The program helps families build home libraries and gives parents tools to support early literacy.
With financial support from local businesses and community institutions, the Friends of WRLS will mail one free book each month to every registered child from birth until age 5. The program makes reading a regular part of family life and connects children and caregivers with early literacy programs at local public libraries and other literacy organizations across the Winding Rivers Library System service area.
This program will begin in the counties of Buffalo, Trempealeau, Monroe, Jackson, La Crosse, Vernon, and Juneau on January 4, 2027. All donations made to the Friends of the Winding Rivers Library System will support this program.

Register your child for free books!
Registering your child in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library means your child will get a free book every month until their 5th birthday. If your child is under 5 years of age, get them started when our program launches on January 4, 2027.
Eligibility
